Giegerich aptly describes Jung’s invention of the collective unconscious as a psychological process of “splitting and swallowing.”20

 

Giegerich expresses what Jung did excellently in the following passage. Referring to the contents of the invented Jungian collective unconscious Giegerich quotes Jung as saying “You must not allow your reason to play with” them.”21 Giegerich continues by saying that such a statement “betrays the total immunization of these contents from the
