(Beignets are fritter-like doughnuts, square pieces of dough, fried and covered with powdered sugar.) The original Café Du Monde Coffee Stand was established in 1862 in the New Orleans French Market. The Cafe is open 24/7 and closes only on Christmas Day when hurricanes pass through New Orleans. Next the twosome end up at Jacques-Imo’s, the home of “real nawlin’ food.” TJ, armed with amber-colored bubbly, gets the in-resident tarot card reader and shell reader to chat about his tumultuous love life and carved walking stick. Afterwards Di and the psychic check out Jacques-Imo’s VIP table — an outside two-top table perched atop the flatbed of an embellished pickup truck…a shell-shocked vehicle with eyes and lips…! Here, here! Toast-toast! Jacques-Imo’s embraces and interprets the New Orleans funky psyche in a way that is fetching to both tourists and locals alike…a colorful kaleidoscopic parade…an escapist dream …
