This is a slightly changed version of the already uploaded one by a similar name. (I did not delete the original version for some have already linked to it but, personally, I humbly prefer this version.) This is the history of the shaman; who they are, where they originate from, how shamanism is viewed and the present day shamanic gurus listed who are responsible for making this mystical and amazing healing practice (among other things) available to the general population. I pray you enjoy and that I did justice to those whose practices I revere. Mitaku Oyasin ~Alison~

oh wow, shamanism is not a religion a shaman is an appointed person in a tribe to be a medicine woman or man, a healer a seer and a guide.

  • tfrenn says:

@ObamaNation111, Native Americans were shamans and Native Americans were not primitive, shamanism is the oldest religion, one of the reasons why they were mass murdered was because of their shamanistic practices that our condemned in the bible, Indians who refused to give up their beliefs were hung by 13 in honor of Jesus and his 12 apostles, christianity stole most of its ideas from older pagan deities anyways, its a Roman Story created for political and social control

Oh I have always LOVED this song! I used to dance to it in modern class or when driving through prarie land. I would imagine myself as one of the natives roaming the land on horse, instead of my car. Very empowering music to go with intro of world spirit unitedness. Very cool!

  • ObamaNation111 says:

Shamanism is primitive, but it’s still a religion. There is no true spirituality outside religion. The “religion vs spiriuality” thing we see today was created by self-serving “me” generation kids who have no idea what they are talking about.

the universe is sacred and everytime a shaman go he is helping in another way

  • Chiyo1967 says:

Every time a shaman dies, it’s as if a library has been burned down.

sir can you please tel me from wich album is this music? Thank you!

  • Foltore says:

Harner is not only a shaman. He is a GREAT shaman. Exactly this – in sibirian / tuvin tradition (the only tradition btw, who has a right to give a statement on the term “schaman”). You can see it on the summary of his work: a worldwide movement of (again) living shamanism.
If you read Harners book: you can see a little bit of his shamansickness and also his learning from spirits AND living peoples over many years. He studies and trains this kingsart all the time of his live.

I would urge anyone who is touched by Spirit to learn more about shamanism to do the groundwork with educators like Michael Harner, Sandra Ingerman, Joan Halifax, Joseph Campbell, the list is long.
If Spirit is listening ( or rather if you are in awareness) the road will open up before you… because in the end we all return back to our source, one way or another.
One word of advice, a shaman will never say “I am a shaman”.. only others (and your spirit guides) will call you a shaman.

  • walkingbear56 says:

… you to your highest self, the part of you that has had all its false crutches stripped away.. to where you are bare, naked against the elements, and to that part of you that is eternal with the nature of the universe.
There are few that make the journey that are not changed, that can no longer tolerate the world of falsehood.
Stripped of our thin civilized veneer we come back to our source.
It is good that educators are here to remind us that the way is still worth seeking…..

I have a book that has a forward that reads.
“Why would one want to be a shaman…you are sitting in your yurt, when you are pounced upon by some deamon spirit, who rips you to pieces, grinds you into the dirt and then remakes you anew”.
The path of wisdom (in its true meaning) is not easy, nor is it an intellectual path guided by the mind. It is a path that takes you to the very core of your spirit self. Your fears and your self hatred, your weakness and your “dark side”. But it also takes …

‘book writer’ PhD’s are EDUCATORS, i respect educator harners work, but he is not a shaman, nor andrews, nor moss, they are educators. there is a difference, otherwise to prepare for spirit they would have been filled with dis-ease for years, mental break throughs, then healing themselves which takes years, and that only prepared them to be out of this world, homelessness etc all the while learning from spirit, because that is the only condition in which real spirit has your attention and shows

    Beautifully put.

How light the heart that is full, how heavy the heart that is empty.

Kia ora to the whomever posted this. In my native tongue when establishing respectful relationships to knowledge, people, Atua (God/desses) we ask first; NO HEA KOE/AU/IA. This establishes context for who is talking, the subject and whakapapa (rhythmic patterns of geneological connection to) direct to group for presenting such group Wisdoms? I ask this of the maker of this work; No Hea Koe? Where are you from? What place speaks of your ancestors? Whose permission do you have to present this?

BEAUTIFUL! Loved watching & feeling this, very well put 2gether,…looking 4ward to part 2 ^_^

  • sliponjuggernaut says:

It’s a very nice videomontage and the music is beautifull. But I do think that the message is a bit on the simple side. Why I get the idea that all shamans are blessed with great spirit and a true heart beneficial to all of humanity. No, this is not so.
We are all humans, shamans “knows” and can interact with spirits. But it doesn’t make them less susceptible to negative force then most people.
What makes a man beneficial to mankind is the weight of his heart, not the appearance of it.

  • theunknownknows says:

So, religion is genetic? Or is it possible to protect it with copyright?

  • spiralshaman says:

    Great video.

  • bunnybaby1 says:

I am sorry you were right, that is Black Elk….My mistake. Feel free to delete my comment if you want. Having had direct connection to tribal Shamans, I cringe when I see some of these videos. If people knew what Natives think of these kinds of things, they would never post them. I believe it was in good heart…but people like Lynn Andrews etc are NOT favored by most Native Americans, as they are not authentic, and they believe this is just whites trying to steal their religions.

  • bunnybaby1 says:

Information you have in this video is not correct by Native reality. Venerable Black Elk? and place Red Cloud from the Lakota Nation picture.? Native Americans laugh at white people who claim to know so much about their cultures but it is just information taken from books. Classic Shaman’s and Core Shamanism that has become a new age craze are quite different. Michael Horner has popularized Shamanism in a core sense, but
true Shamans belong to a culture and tribe and never choose themselves.

  • gillumine says:

thank you so much…aho! I have good videos i’ve compiled to help myself and others open up to this nature..check em out. Muah!

ps. i have always loved the Shaman teacher Lynn V. Andrews….
