There are things a Hmong shaman cannot tell what he or she sees. The gift to become a shaman happens when the individual suffers from a long period of illnesses, experiences near-death and sees visions. As in all indigenous and ancient cultures, people practice a form of shamanism or a spiritual healing process that is very complex and complicated to explain. Many Hmong thought that the gift of shamanism was going to be lost, but it is not. Recently, a Hmong lady by the name Pa Lor who now live in Stockton, California, who was raised as a Christian all through her life became a shaman in her mid teen. It was a gift she cannot refused. Pa Lor went to California State University of California and published her story in 1997 and in 2010 Hmong Txhawb Magazine. From Txhawb 2010 “For as long as the Hmong people have existed, so has shamanism and it’s not going away, Lor says. Culture is changing and shamanism will change to accommodate it. It seems to be happening already. In the last few years alone, there have been more instances of higher power choosing young adults like Lor to practice shamanism. Even those who know little Hmong language are being picked to carry on the tradition.” You can read her story here www.txhawb.com

    you talk as if christian don’t help the world,when we donate so much money to poor countries.if shaman is so great,why dont you go and help the poor with your skills. im not blind,i see what’s going on,it takes more than just 1 person to help the world.you should get off your alter and start doing some real talking with ppl instead of going behind cloth.stop jumping around, help those who can’t walk.GOD gave us our gifts and abilities,because of them we are able to help those in need.

  • zmanthao says:

    @SocialMisfit No, you got it wrong. Your god isn’t doing much in this world; it is a wrap around itself god which is what you are like. Just like you don’t see the pain and suffering of others desperate in this world to survive. They need you and me to help them because we have better means. They don’t have internet to come tell us, we have to go to them. When you start helping, you will find that it is through your hand that help them, not god’s hand, though he work through you..

    thanks for telling me that i’m like a child. because it’s better to be like a child than an adult. slow to anger, and quick to forgive. your just saying that b/c your afraid to comitt yourself to God. so you have to put me down by degrading me. lol, but its cool~ talking about God can be really filling, and sometimes you dont feel so hungry. i might be starving, but the ending results are amazingly wonderful to experience God’s blessings when you fast.

  • zmanthao says:

    @SocialMisfit I’m not tense, but why are you mentioning about being tense? Maybe you are. If you don’t understand what I just said; you don’t know enough to teach others because you haven’t got your hand dirty, you are like a little child that has plenty to eat, wait until you starve and then try to teach others. I bet it won’t be happy joy joyy because all you can feel about is your starvation. Don’t get it? Let me know and I’ll explain some more.

  • SocialMisfit says:

    @zmanthao
    oh well, i meant we as in, our church’s little groups. my bad~ i shouldn’t have to keep quiet about my faith in God and where it takes me. it’s my freedom of speech. do i sense someone getting tense? obviously you need to chill and relax. and take criticism to the heart. sharing our walk with God makes ppl more aware of the many possibilities they can have in love, faith and hope in a corrupt world.

  • zmanthao says:

    @SocialMisfit I never said anything about “we”, I’m talking about you. Have you gone out to the world to do the work with your two bare hand? If you have not, then learn to keep quiet. I as a shaman don’t get it easy dealing with evil spirits all the time, the same one you call demons. The one that make a person’s house cold and sucks the life force out of people. If you haven’t deal with one by yourself, then learn to keep quiet.

    christians have helped alot of cultures, and we have gone to laos, thailand, and china where we helped children and families learn about God and help with their daily life. hmong ppl have a choice they can make, ppl bring their own sufferings, it’s nothing we can run from. it’s a risk we take going into places like that, but we Thank God for making all things possible. and alot of lives have changed because we’ve helped them learn about their place in God’s love.

  • zmanthao says:

    @zmanthao I am helping my suffering people and I am a shaman. You as a christian, what have you done to help your suffering people? We are good just like you and don’t need your preaching, but the one back in Laos and Thailand are suffering, go preach to them where it is needed the most. You can be a Jesus by going to Laos to preach christianity, maybe you can change them if they don’t put a bullet in your head first.

  • zmanthao says:

    @SocialMisfit The reason why niamtxiv is angry is because our hmong people suffer a lot not because of religion but because of cruel people in this world that religion cannot change. For example, if you preach christianity in muslim or communist country, they make sure you are wipe off this earth. And here you are happy and a worshipper while the rest of your people suffer thinking you are right which is both sad and angers people. This is why you have to keep to yourself until you actually help

  • zmanthao says:

    @SocialMisfit Basically you are saying you and your church haven’t done much about helping suffering people in this world because you are too busying worshiping and recruiting for the plastic Jesus.

  • SocialMisfit says:

    @zmanthao
    projects like that are growing in the christian community, we’re slowly reaching out to those who need faith in life and in God. it’s amazing how much we’ve done, and the results are amazing. as far as the interpretations for Romans 8:18…you shouldn’t worry and waste time in the world’s ways and how much sadness it brings, rather look forward to the glory and excitement that will come. basically jesus returns. God has so much power and love, that you can’t let go at all.

  • SocialMisfit says:

    @zmanthao
    just b/c a black man portrays Jesus as that, doesn’t mean that you should assume things. True, that God is not about mat. possession but we should be thankful for the things he blesses us with, and share it with the world. you dont have to tell me that, b/c as a christian we got that more than covered. it’s better to give than to receive. you are just that stubborn huh. LOL. like i said, He’s got the whole world in his hand, so why not join the race and follow.

  • SocialMisfit says:

    @niamtxiv
    i guess i’ll have to be the bigger man, and let it go…obviously some ppl can’t take criticism well.

  • zmanthao says:

    @SocialMisfit If you want to get to know father in heaven and Jesus just a little bit more, help thousands of people in this world that are suffering because of femine or war or hate. It is a very horrible and sad situation. I guarantee it will change the way you think whether you are a christian or shaman. This is as close as you can get to what you mentioned in roman 8:18. The reason why I ask, but you cannot answer. Mine are real, but yours are in head only because you haven’t done the work.

  • zmanthao says:

    @SocialMisfit I’m glad you took it jokingly, but it is true. I drove down a black neighbor and there was a huge black jesus with open arm painted on a church wall. Then there’s the black hair Jesus to resemble asian. Wow, I think its time you dress him up in hmong custome! God s not about material possession, so you should give all your good away to the poor and needy and live on the street for 3 days and I’m sure god will proof you are right, but for now, you are still wrong.

  • niamtxiv says:

    @SocialMisfit

    first of all, I don’t need to respond to you. You are a BIGOT. Do you understand that? I suggest you STFU or I will block you.

  • SocialMisfit says:

    @zmanthao
    it’s true that we can’t see him, but his miracles i have seen, just waking up the next day is a blessing. alot of ppl believe in God, not just americans but chinese and ppl all over the world. i might be a liar, but im not the only one lying about Jesus. there’s a fire burning faith that roars all over the world, and it’s all about Jesus. whether you believe him or not, he’s got the whole world in his hands. and there’s still a spot for you! see how special you are!

  • SocialMisfit says:

    @niamtxiv
    No need to hate on God, because he’s just that popular. since when did the hmong culture belong to just you? it’s not just yours…it’s mine and everyone who is hmong. and for some of us, we choose to walk with God, dont be jealous that we want to stand out~ its time to make a change in the hmong history.

  • SocialMisfit says:

    @zmanthao
    your so funny! it just amazes me how much you doubt God’s existence, that it’s saddens me. thanks for the laugh. so many ppl are like you, who would rather see then believe. honestly, it just hasn’t gotten to you yet. how much longer will you choose to stand aside from God’s love. ppl create those white, black and asian God, but true christians know that God is God. santa, elves and fairies are more like folklore stories. God is greater than that. only a fool says there is no God.

  • niamtxiv says:

    @zmanthao

    lol, Jesus is just like any other figures such as Santa Claus, Elves and Fairies.

  • zmanthao says:

    @SocialMisfit Simple, have you met Jesus? If you can’t answer this simple question honestly, you are a liar to yourself and others.

  • zmanthao says:

    @SocialMisfit Don’t tell me you still worshiping the white Jesus because the Black worship the black Jesus and the Asian worship the Asian Jesus and the Mexican worship the Mexican Jesus. Or is there a Hmong Jesus now that I don’t know about?

    you should check this out if you want that is?maybe you have heard of Rev. Vam Txoov Lis before. nothing wrong in making a change in who we are. to change is to grow out of what we used to be, and into something new. i respect my ancestors, but im willingly to risk my life for a greater cause. God’s got my back, idk about yours, but i’ll be praying for you! 😉

  • niamtxiv says:

    This is about the Hmong spiritual belief. If you don’t like it, I suggest you go back and educate yourself about your native belief. Start learning about other cultures and their native practices. STFU and leave GOD out of this video. If you want to preach about your saint, do it somewhere else and not on our cultural videos. Don’t like it, get lost and stfu. Your God is not my God and have nothing to do with my culture. Thank you very much.
