HALLOWEENS origins date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. The Celts, who lived 2000 years ago in what is now Ireland, the United Kingdom and northern France, celebrated their new year on Nov 1. This day marked the end of summer and the harvest and the beginning of the dark, cold winter, a time often associated with death. On the night of Oct 31, they celebrated Samhain, when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth. Celts felt that the presence of otherworldly spirits made it easier for the Druids, or Celtic priests, to make predictions about the future. These prophecies were an important source of comfort and direction during the long, dark winter. To commemorate the event, Druids built huge sacred bonfires, where the people gathered to burn crops and animals as sacrifices to the Celtic deities. The people wore costumes of animal heads and skins, and attempted to tell each others fortunes. When the celebration was over, they re-lit their hearth fires from the sacred bonfire to help protect them during the coming winter. When the Romans conquered the majority of Celtic territory by AD43, over the course of the 400 years that they ruled the Celtic lands, two festivals of Roman origin were combined with the traditional Celtic celebration of Samhain. The first was Feralia, a day in late October when the Romans traditionally commemorated the passing of the dead. The second was a day to honor Pomona, the Roman goddess of fruit and trees. The

Here we have an Islamic Jihadist looking to own Celtic History with the pen and define us under his colonizing terrorist paradigm. How arrogant and disrespectful for him to attempt to define our culture as Satanic within the Islamic Paradigm when our culture clearly mandates our peoples right to light the Bonfire and Burn a cross to strike terror into our enemies hearts and ward off evil.

There are no examples of “satanic worshipers sacrificing children”. It’s hysterical that someone actually said this, never mind actually believing it.

0:42………”evil spirits”?? yes, on Samhain its said that some nasty spirits return such as Caesar! but also Salah-A-Dins spirit returns! no one actually sees these spirits on October 31st. its just accepted that they will be around for a bit.

0:20………amongst ourselves, wiccans still follow the old November 1st tradition of new years. the neo-pagan movement across europe and north america isnt huge, but the ones that know the traditions will keep them alive in our own way. …as for Shaytan, we wiccans dont believe in such a manifestation. ……as for sacrifices, yes, in ancient times there were sad things going on. the good thing about Islam and Christianity is that sacrificing slaves and war captives was stopped.

Also I would like to see any proof of “Satanic worshopers” sacraficing children during holoween.

While he has the history of holoween some what correct, I feel the need to point out some inacuracies. The United States Military Achnolages Wicca as a Religion, not the international Church of Satan. They also will bring you a Wiccan Priest or priestess (Depending on what they have on hand) For official religous cerimonies and rights of the dead. From my understanding how ever All Military Priests must respect their posts as “A man of many cloths” Regaurdless of their own faith convictions.

Actually he’s got alot of good points Only it wasn’t just the evil spirits that could pass between worlds it was both, Its pronounced Sowen or Soween, and the Jakeal Lantern in its origianal Celtic origines was a single Lump of Charcoal inside a carved out Turnup, the Pumpkin variant did not come around until the Celts moved to Colonial America, where they found the pumpkin easier to grow, carve, and light with candles.
