Question by mg: Online tarot readings – would they be dangerous (christians)?
There are some fun website where you can do little tarot readings for fun – much like checking horoscopes. I’ve done this quite a bit out of habit. But according to a christian, would this be opening oneself up to something negative? People always say that the occult causes this. Any thoughts, thankyou.

    they are very dangerous!!!!!!

  • Valentina says:

Things like these make you rely on information too generic to be accurate.

I’ve had a fair amount of experience in the occult… and guess what? I’m successful with a bright future ahead of me- no “demons” or other spooky stuff that the Church tries to scare people with.

Though in general, I dislike online tarot and astrology sites. They’re just too… fluffy. And often not legitimate.

  • kittywink says:

the Bible is very clear that doing tarot, palm readings, etc., is to be avoided because the devil uses these as ways to get into your life. A young woman who was demon possesed asked satan why he choose her. He said ‘you are the one who invited me’.

  • Philip L says:

You haven’t figured out that Christianity was at one time a cult before it exploded and became mainstream when the Roman empire took it to be the official religion?

  • goldyyloxx says:

That’s right, that’s Satan’s playground; and being open to that opens our hearts to more of Satan’s lies; lies don’t stop where they start; and before long the devil is running our lives with his lies.
Stop doing that right now; turn to Jesus for what you wanna know and if He doesn’t tell you then you don’t need to know!
    God Bless.

lol There is nothing dangerous about tarot cards.

  • midnightmoon62 says:

Well, first, most of those online things arent real. They are simply comp generations. The cards are randomly picked. So, in theory, if one did it only for fun, it might be ok.

But, doing it for fun leads the the thinking of doing it for real. Then Biblically, have you done something wrong?

On the other hand, I am a bit superstitious. I think it is totally possible for the Christian God to help up see things that we need to improve in our life through things like that. I have had readings done. I never ask about future. I am not sure if thats because I think the future is fluid and ever changing, or because I was taught future telling is of the devil.

However, I have asked for what do I need to work on within myself. You flip over a card, think about the ‘meaning’ of the card, and then examine your life to see why that card with that meaning came up. For example, maybe the meaning of your card was about caring for your family. THen you think about it and realize you are not doing the things you should to try to have a good happy healthy and even Godly family.

The process could actually be equated to a session with a psychologist. Only the psych asks questions and asks you to think about certain things rather than flipping over a card. I totally believe that using cards could be a way of communicating with God. Maybe you are better with visuals instead of just sitting and thinking.

And actually, most of Christian ritual and tradition is based on the occult and pagan religions anyways. I dont get why we indoctrinated so many of their rituals and cermonies, but reject others as evil.

The key is to make sure you dont become so involved in it that you worship it over God. That is when things like that become wrong. The power isnt in the cards, its within yourself with Gods help.

Maybe you should pray about the situation for a while and see how you feel about it after you pray. If you get the feeling that its ok after you pray, then maybe for you it is. If you get the feeling that its not ok after praying, then maybe it is wrong for you. It may take a while to get a clear feeling, but if you sincerly pray for the wisdom, it will be given to you.

the tarot cards can only be one of two things, either it is made up and is really pointless, or it is demonic and should definitly be avoided

  • Victoria W says:

I’m not sure but I would definitely stay away from anything involving “fortune telling” it’s un-biblical and it could indeed involve you in some scary things. However in this case I think you might be ok right now, honestly as far as I can tell spiritual assaults happen mostly to people who are God’s children who play around with magical things, and have a background of sin in their family, like divorces going back several generations, murders, thieves, sexual deviancy. It’s because the devil wants to snatch Gods children away from Him, and he figures people that learned that way of living from parents and grandparents that aren’t exactly on the straight and narrow as of late.

It is not good at all….. the following is an excerpt from my study Bible:
There are many “windows” that may lead people into influence.
When Saul was king of Isreal and in trouble, he consulted a medium(a witch) to gain knowledge of the future (see 1 Samuel 28). Isaiah 47:12-15 shows how effective such foretellers of the future really are. Many other passages deal with astrology, divination, wizards, sorcery, and soothsayers (see Deuteronomy 18:10-11; 2 Chronicles 33:6; Daniel 2:1-2; Acts 8:9-11; Acts 16:16)
If satan can get people to take in evil small doses at a time, eventually they may become desensitized and not recognize that they are being fed something that will dull their interest in God. ……..
…..Our best defense is to know the truth of the Word of God, so we can discern when we are being tempted by evil. God knows it is real. And Jesus came to desroy the works of the devil. Remember, “greater is HE that is in you, than he that is in the world: ( 1 John 4:4 KJV)

I’ve no moral objection to tarot card readings or horoscopes but you must have figured out by now that this stuff doesn’t work. Go for it if you find it entertaining but don’t base any important decisions on that nonsense.

  • madkandy665 says:

As long as it stays fun there is no harm…however, don’t put to much into it.

  • conny says:

I use to believe in it quite a bit in the past along with the dream books. None of it comes true in reality and it doesn’t matter if your a Christian or not. It’s the enemy putting false hopes in your head. I know it happened to me for years until last year. It’s all fake and bogus. I had a reading last year and nothing came true. Tell me something right there. It’s all a lie. Period!!! I chose not to believe in it because I trust in the Lord on my future. He is the only one who knows not any psychic stuff.

  • Yoda's Duck says:

Depends on how much stock you put in what you read.

Personally, I don’t give much weight to what horoscopes and tarot readings say- the information may be correct, but it’s not from God, so it’s not given with my best interest at heart.

Frankly, the horoscopes I’ve read are so ambiguous as to be applicable in nearly every case!… in other words- completely useless!

  • Bohemian G says:

If there are no spirits, it doesn’t work… there is a chrstian on this website who has deleted EVERY QUESTION that I have posted… I asked for a tarot reading 30 times and each time they deleted the question before somebody had a chance to answer… I want to file charges against them but I can’t get their home phone number.

  • Missing Loved 1 says:

I did it in personal before when I was sick and it came true about 90%. Thank you tarot for saving my life. Reading it for fun… I do not know if it ‘s bad or not but I do know that people should not do it often because I believe that there are something that people cannot see; moreover, it could control people what to do. Forexample, when the tarot card told me to do this but I wanted to do that, so it confused me. Finally, I think people should make dicision for themselve, and learn from the past of mistake.
Indeed, everything has the pros and cons; people have a good and a bad side. I would not worry about that.

  • duaneb_59 says:

The Tarot is grossly misunderstood. It is used as a means to “tell” the future. Those of us who use it as a means to understand that a variety of aspects are playing inour lives currently use it properly. Tarot is actually for the present. A “reading” allows you to see different views of thnigs going on in your life at the moment. Christians have a lot of things wrong, but that is done so you do not come to the knowledge of the understanding of how life is. Anytime fear has to be used to thwart people from learning or understanding, there is something going on in the background that is not being revealed. I would be more concerned about the motives of those who say it is evil.
