Question by boater90: Just got my first tarot deck, still looking for the one I connect with?
I recently bought my first tarot deck, just the Tarot To Go!, which is the Hanson-Roberts deck. It’s not bad, but I don’t really connect with it. I actually didn’t really connect with any of the decks that I looked at in the store.

I was wondering if anybody could recommend me a deck, especially one with large cats such as tigers and lions.

How did you find that deck that you connect with?

Shouldn’t your question be in the Games section under Cards?

Yeah, the Hanson Roberts is about as basic as they get, which is fine, you can learn a lot about the Qabalah from the study of a standardized deck of that type. My favorite tarot deck is probably the World Spirit deck, because it has lots of nudity.

I personally use the Robin Wood Tarot most of the time, though I have other decks that I will pull out on occasion. If you really enjoy cats you may want to try the Cat People Tarot. It has a mix of both large and domestic cats. The art work is very nice and while I don’t own one, I have handled and used the deck on several occasions and liked it very much. Other desk that I know that feature cats are The White Cat Tarot, The Medieval Cat Tarot, and The Cats Eye Tarot. I think most of these deal with more domestic cats rather than the larger ones though. My suggestion is to look around. If you go to http://www.aeclectic.net you can get really good reviews of decks and most of the time they are good pictures of the cards up. As to how I found a deck i really liked and connected well with. There are several locally owned shops in my area that allowed me to come in and look at/handle the decks they had in stock. A lot of larger stores will not let you do this. I also knew several other people that had decks, and used them as a point of reference, but looking at their cards and seeing the styles I did and did not like.
Good Luck! I hope this helps. Have a great day.

I have Tarot of the Cat People and really like the deck. It has many cats, big and small. It is a little different in imagery than the RWS styled decks, but I find it very compatibale with the traditional meanings and learning the deck itself from RWS books is good.
The deck also comes with a detailed booklet as well. It has stories about the Cat People.

The many different tarot decks will all portray symbolic imagery which must then pass through your psychic senses and, given the context of the questions asked, bring forth a tarot card meaning that significantly answers your question.
If you are using Tarot cards as an oracle, you may be more inclined to read card meanings and spreads. But if using Tarot Cards as a tool for Psychic Ability you would be less likely to hold to any hard and fast guide lines. I’m a profession psychic and use Tarot Cards in a random way. In 25 years of professional readings I’ve never used any ‘meanings, spreads or reversals’ of tarot cards from any books.

So if you want to develop ‘Psychic Ability’ throw the books and guidelines away and let the images inspire you. But you may need to try the Rider Waite or another imaged deck.

Here’s the how-to of reading tarot cards with your psychic perception in six simple steps. http://www.psychic-junkie.com/reading-tarot-cards.html

You can use this four minute video as a brief meditation on the tarot that, repeatedly viewed, will help you learn how to read tarot cards psychically. http://www.psychic-junkie.com/tarotvision.html

To tap in to it more you can go to my free psychic development pages here: http://www.psychic-junkie.com/develop-psychic-ability.html

But on the other hand, if you want to use the Tarot as an oracle, a form of divination that needs no real ‘psychic ability’, then keep the books and use the meanings and spreads if you prefer.

Here is a free download demo for a great Tarot program. To keep the size of the demo manageable it contains the Rider/Waite deck, the actual program will have 10 complete decks. This Demo version of Tarot is a full working copy for 30 days. So you get 30 days to study meanings and spreads! http://www.free-tarot-download-demo.wotsnext.com

Do a search on eBay for ‘Tarot Deck’ and you will see lots of different decks available.

    Hello

    Tarot of the Cat People
    Medievil Cat Tarot &
    White Cat Tarot

    There are probably more!

To find a deck you connect with is simply a matter of meeting it, so will depend on where you are etc. There are some good online shops where you can see all types, so that may give you some ideas.
