Question by jmkcoolgirl_93: Are there any Mangas that aren’t sexual, Gorey, negative, or about magic and sorcery?
I like anime and manga stuff but every time my mom looks at one she doesn’t like them. Is there any that do not have something from above that I could look into?
Give me some choices. I like the art in mangas but every time my mom looks at one that I show her she doesn’t like it. One of those was Tokyo Mew Mew. I loved the show when it was on, but my mom didn’t like the manga.
Another one was about a princess and the Disney Princesses. She was always saying how horible her life was and stuff. That’s what my mom didn’t like. She didn’t like that the person felt incomplete ect.

yes there are but what would be the point of those? Sorry to hear about you mom disliking them, have you tried your local library?

  • ganesa_9 says:

There is an anime series called “Last Exile” that is mostly not any of the above. A little violence, but not too bad.

  • Megan L says:

dont wach them theyre like porn and its kinda creepy to see animays have sex.

  • Chris S says:

ahhh, think you just gotta keep it away from your mom……

  • Charlie says:

why don’t we ask for world peace and an end to all poverty while we’re at it?! haha

  • Ceil-Kace says:

    Try
    Penguin Brothers
    Liar Game
    Marmalade Boy

Its a very good manga……also, go on onemanga.com and look through what they have there.

Heh, heh, charlie, you’ve got a point!

It depends; if your mom’s very, really, REALLY religious, we can’t helpyou much there. That means you’d hafta exclude all the mangas that have demons, things relating to death or the underworld, and dark sorcery. Which is pretty much every manga I know.

InuYasha doesn’t have a lot of magic and sorcery. (It’s my favorite one! Realy, some of the characters are so hot. Just do a google image search on Sesshoumaru.) I don’t know your age, but I’d reccomend Death note for teenagers. It’s awesome. If you want a totally clean manga, try Zatch Bell. Personally, I think it ‘s a little on the “Children” side of the library, if you know what I mean. But that’s just me.

And if you can’t find ANY manga that you think she’ll like, well, it’s like the other Answerers said…she doesn’t have to know, now does she?

P.S. She really doesn’t. I know from experience. *sly snicker*

That is a really tough one because there are some elements of all you mentioned in the majority of the most popular mangas. Those elements make up the unique characteristics of the storyline and characters. I’m sorry your mom is a bit closed-minded. Most parents would be elated that their children are reading anything!

Ermm, this is a hard one, most manga if it does not have any of the above would still have Magic and Sorcery.

I was going to say, St.Lunatic High School because it’s cute, happy and funny but it’s kinda like a Halloween theme and still has magic.

Try going with Clamp School Detectives if you can find it on Ebay since it’s not being published anymore. It’s funny and does not have magic…just a 3 kids who start a detective agency in their school.

Don’t go with Death Note like someone listed, I am a huge Death Note fan but it’s pretty dark and I don’t think your mom would like the idea of a guy who finds a notebook that can kill people and goes around killing trying to become the world’s new God.

Other than Clamp School, most manga I have seen have all those and even the cute happy ones still have magic, though I don’t know every single manga out there.

One “mom-friendly” manga that comes to mind would be “King of Tennis”, about a kid who’s really really good at tennis. And that’s about it. No sorcery, magic, violence, sex, that kinda thing. Another good one is “She’s Got Game”, about a girl who’s good at basketball, but is forced to dress up like a guy by her father. The gender identity jokes might rub your mom the wrong way, though.

It’s good that she wants to get involved, particularly if you’re reading things that are beyond your age in terms of content. The final word on wether you’re mature enough to handle what you’re reading rests upon your mom.

wow. impressing a mom.. that’s tough. especially since everything can be taken the wrong way

there are a lot of manga with romance, but are not necessarily sexual
    Swan
    The One I Love
    Marmalade Boy
    Kodocha
    Girl Got Game
    Imadoki! Nowadays
    Hana Yori Dango

    W Juliet
    Forbidden Dance
    Kitchen Princess

and of course, the shonen ones about sports
    Whistle!

    Good Luck

Try “Chibi Maruko-chan”, it didn’t contain sexual, gorey, negative, magic, and sorcery.

It’s about the average life of a little young Japanese girl with the nickname of “Maruko” (I forgot her full name, but she seems to share it with the creator’s name), she lives in a house together with her parents, her big sister, and her grandparents.

The series focused on how Maruko-chan as a child deal with her day to day activities, things like getting a present for her mother, dealing with a big sister in an argument, finding out the unique feature of a magnifying glass, and so on.

Though it might get a bit cartoonish brutal when Maruko-chan is fighting with her big sister, also a bit of false magic and sorcery when Maruko-chan try to make a special good luck charms she heard about as rumors.

Nevertheless, the story meant to invoke childhood memories of women who are now adults, mothers, and even grandmothers.

My over 50 years old aunt seems to like it, probably due on how Maruko-chan resemble her when she was young. Though her explanation is because ‘Maruko-chan is like a real child’, of course the average child isn’t as rascal as Maruko-chan or my aunt (I know my sister when she was young certainly isn’t like Maruko-chan).
