Question by Piya Ji (piyaji.com): Do you think Religion and Spirituality are two completely different things?
and there should be separate categories for them in Yahoo Q&A?
Because the ones who deeply understand spirituality don’t bother about the religion.
Best answer:
Answer by XMS
yes and no, because some people use religion to reach spirituality.
And most religions are about spirituality.
Actually most spiritual practices had some kind of religious origin at some point.
What do you think? Answer below!
Most definately.
Nope. They should complement each other.
I’m spiritual and I have high respects to all religions. Our faith, what we believe in should unite us not promote diversity.
No religion is greater than the other. Any one who says otherwise is confused and lacking in clarity.
Being spiritual gives us clarity.
There are too many people who don’t distinguish between the two for separate categories to be practical. It should be obvious from the questions and answers we see every day that very people these days know or care what the words they use actually mean, they just make up their own definitions and then insult anyone who disagrees.
I would agree that Religion and Spirituality are not the same thing, but I would disagree that they are completely different. There can be and frequently are aspects of both in the way an individual may choose to live and worship.
An interesting question. I think that a spiritual person is more concerned with the inner self, while a religious person is concerned with being part of a community of faith. That does not mean that the spiritual are disconnected. There are great books like Sun of gOd: Discover the Self-Organizing Consciousness That Underlies Everything by Gregory Sams to help guide those who choose to walk their own path.
