One Response to Q&A: Metaphysical?

  • Lynci says:

Metaphysics in its original and purest form is a philosophy concerned with being and questions about being. However, since the advent of the New Age, metaphysics or metaphysical are terms used to denote abstract, esoteric, or occult concepts, ideas related to subjects which are beyond the physical, thus understood only spiritually or cerebrally. I hope that the above explanation is a simple enough explanation of the term metaphysical. As for metaphysical poetry, it is written to express ideas which are otherworldly, mystical, or spiritual in nature.
Addendum: Metaphysical poetry had became popular in the seventeenth century and was written by numerous poets of the time.
