Question by Lady Morgana: Pagans: what is your favorite CD of pagan music?
I have The Best Of Pagan Song, and I love it to death, but I have listened to it so much, I really need some other good pagan music. I like the celtic style, and don’t care much for heavy metal stuff.

Any recommendations?

Try classical Balinese music using traditional instruments. You will love it. It is truly a refreshing change.

I particularly enjoy using Paul Horn’s “Inside the Great Pyramid” (1976)!

Narrowing it down to a CD is difficult.. I can narrow it down to 3 different artists/bands: Skinny White Chick, Dreamtrybe and Lorenna Mckennitt.

Skinny White Chick is my favorite right now.. because who doesn’t love aucustic guitar with a jazz sound and pagan lyrics.. she is so sassy it is great.. and her song “hyme to herne” makes me want to rip my clothes off paint my body blue and have an a oragy.

ETA- here is a link to her page with all of her songs on it.. I think I am addicted to it!

Well I really do not have a favorite but I do love these bands and songs.

Nightwish- Over the Hills and Far Away
Dragonforce- Through The Fire And Flames
    Mediaeval Babes -Isabella
David Arkenstone- all songs off the celtic book of days
    Loreena McKennitt -All CD’s

    Bright Blessings

Anything by Gaia Consort, The Burning Times by Rumors of the Big Wave, Songs From the Wood by Jethro Tull.

Not exactly Pagan (actually, exactly Christian), but Under the Gripping Beast by Echo’s Children is brilliant, and has the amazing song Word of God on it, which is the best Christian rebuttal to Creationism I’ve ever seen. Here are the lyrics–

Lady M, Blackmore’s Night is fantastic. The Village Lanterne has to be the BEST album by them ever. I also like Lisa Thiel’s “Circle of the Seasons” album as well, Both are easy listening with no loud racket to contend with. If you log onto Yahoo!Messenger some day, I’ll send you them.

    Brightest Blessings,

Not directly Pagan, but I love Tori Amos. Little Earthquakes is one of those albums that has stood the test of time for me. I have listened to it since I was in high school. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Earthquakes

I enjoy Regan High Priestess. She does some really wondrous work on the harp with her music.

  • Auntie·Christ ??? [stuporstar]:

I cringe at the sound of most Pagan music… I find precious little of it to be even remotely appealing…

I do like the Dragon Ritual Drummers though. They’re quite good. Not celtic… not heavy metal.
